The Taxation Unit TISSA-UUM organised the third CEO in Class Programme by inviting a guest speaker from the Inland Board of Malaysia (IRBM) on 14 June 2022. The lecture entitled Taxation on Petroleum Industry in Malaysia was delivered by Mrs Siti Ramiza Razak from the Specialised Industries Branch, IRBM. The speaker is also a TISSA-UUM alumnus. The title is related to a chapter in BKAT3033 Specialised Taxation course.
The program aims to provide the current tax updates, tax treatments and issues in the petroleum industry in Malaysia to students and faculty members. As petroleum is one of the country’s most valuable resources, participants were exposed to how taxation plays an important role in preserving the natural resource that keeps depleting. The program serves as a medium for students to learn directly from practical points of view. The expert experiences shared during the session were also valuable to participants as they are not available in the textbook. The collaboration between TISSA-UUM and external organisations such as the IRBM is excellent in enhancing the teaching and learning process that will close the gap between theoretical knowledge and the practical world.
The program was conducted virtually via Cisco Webex for about two hours and about 120 participants attended the session. They portrayed their enthusiasm for the topic being delivered and were highly satisfied with the sharing session. The students also expressed that they are looking forward to more sharing from experts in the field sessions.
