CEO IN CLASS PROGRAM “RMCD: WHY DO WE MATTER?”

1

The Taxation Unit TISSA-UUM organised a CEO in Class Programme by inviting a speaker from the Royal Malaysia Customs Department (RMCD). The program was delivered by Tuan Mohamad Faiz Bin Baharin, Head of Performance Management and Discipline Unit, from RMCD Johor Branch with the title of “RMCD: Why Do We Matter?”.  The program was the first program in CEO In Class Series by Taxation Unit TISSA-UUM for semester A212 which was held on 12 April 2022.  The topic is related to a chapter in BKAT3023 Advanced Taxation and BKAT3043 Revenue Law courses.

The program aims to provide students and faculty members with practical information about indirect taxes issues especially the Sales and Services Tax 2.0 (SST2.0). During the session, Tuan Mohamad Faiz advised students to appreciate the importance of indirect taxes to the country. The speaker also shared his real experiences on issues when dealing with the SST 2.0 payers.

The session was conducted virtually via Cisco Webex for about two hours and was attended by about 224 students and 22 academic staff. The participants really enjoyed the session as it enhanced their knowledge of real issues that may occur when dealing with indirect taxes in Malaysia. This is proven when many participants asked questions to the speaker, and they also responded to the speaker’s questions. There will be another three CEO in Class Programs by Taxation Unit TISSA-UUM that will be held during A212 semester.
