The Professional Program Committee of TISSA-UUM and the Malaysia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) have jointly organised MICPA-UUM Guest Lecture entitled Accounting for Construction Contract on 31 May 2022. The guest lecture was delivered by Mr Rick Wu, Assurance Director of Ernst & Young.

The guest lecture aims to provide students and faculty members with information about the accounting issues faced by accountants when dealing with construction contracts. During the session, Mr Rick Wu advised students to master the construction contract accounting as many Malaysian companies are demanding “knowledgeable accountants who can understand the construction contract and take care of the companies’ projects.”

Furthermore, Mr Hasiib Shaharuddin, Senior Executive Marketing of MICPA, also shared the importance of having professional qualifications with students. He also highlighted some of the available sponsorship opportunities for students, such as the MICPA Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP).

The session was conducted virtually via Zoom and attended by over 60 students and lecturers. MICPA is a professional accounting body with over 3,200 members and 500 registered candidates. Members of the Institute are professionally qualified certified public accountants bearing the CPA qualification.
