The Professional Bodies Committee under TISSA-UUM and CIMA in collaboration with KPMG jointly organised a virtual session entitled “Post Pandemic Challenges Faced by Professional Accountants” on 24 May 2021. During the virtual session, students were informed about the importance of professional qualification such as CIMA and how it will help them in their career by Ms Bettina Ann Lee, the CIMA Associate Specialist.
Ms Shamini Devee Saygaran, Associate Director of Internal Audit and Risk Compliance Services at KPMG gave a fascinating lecture to students and teachers on post-pandemic challenges. She primarily focused on three primary issues: essential post-epidemic skills, post-pandemic threats to consider, and how the pandemic had impacted our lives.
Accounting students, as future accountants, should be equipped with abilities such as adaptability to changing conditions, openness to new challenges, and willingness to explore new technology in the aftermath of the epidemic. Furthermore, the speakers emphasised the importance of students having exposure to data analytics and big data before entering the workforce.
More than 130 students joined the virtual session via Zoom, from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm. Full recording of the sharing session may be found at https://tinyurl.com/yc6p2e8h (Passcode: *&PLSz2s).
